Book Group will meet on Friday, May 15, at noon, and Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 a.m., to discuss Fever: A Novel of Typhoid Mary by Mary Beth Keane, who was named one of the National Book Foundation’s 5 under 35. Fever was named a best book of 2013 by the San Francisco Chronicle, Library Journal, and NPR.
Keane tells a fictionalized account of the story of Mary Mallon, the first person to be identified as an asymptomatic typhoid carrier, whose cooking skills were sought after by the New York aristocracy, but who left a trail of typhoid fever wherever she worked.
Boston Children’s Hospital personnel are encouraged to join us in the AV Room in the Library on Friday, May 15, at noon, or Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 a.m., to participate in discussion about this book. If you would like to be added to our Book Group email distribution list, please contact Alison Clapp or Jessica LaBrie.
