New at the Library: The Progress Principle

progressprincipleFor Management Grand Rounds on Wednesday, April 23, Teresa Amabile will speak about “The Progress Principle: Using Small Wins to Ignite Joy, Engagement, and Creativity at Work.” Amabile’s book of the same name, co-written with her husband, Steven Kramer, is new at the library.

Amabile is the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration and a Director of Research at Harvard Business School. Originally educated as a chemist, she now studies how everyday life inside organizations can influence people and their performance. Her research focuses on creativity, productivity, innovation, and inner work life. She was ranked in both 2013 and 2011 on the Thinkers 50, the global ranking of management thinkers. On Amabile’s website you can watch a video about The Progress Principle discussing why Amabile and Kramer wrote this book, inner work life and performance, why employee engagement is slipping, managers misunderstanding motivation, who the book is for, and more.
