Book Group will meet on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 a.m. and noon, to discuss The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, a novel by Jan-Philipp Sendker. The library has a copy of this book available to check out.
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats tells of an American woman who travels to Burma to solve the mystery of her father’s sudden disappearance, discovering the incredible tale of his past that he never shared with his family. Sendker’s debut novel was published in German in 2002, enjoying bestselling success. A decade later, Kevin Wiliarty’s English translation has captivated readers across the globe. You can read an article of Sendker’s story of the journey that The Art of Hearing Heartbeats took to becoming the big success that a Burmese astrologist predicted it would be, before Sendker had even set pen to paper.
If you liked The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, you may also enjoy the sequel, A Well-Tempered Heart, which was published in English just months ago.
Children’s Hospital staff are encouraged to join us in the AV Room in the Library on Friday, April 4, at either 7:30 a.m. or noon to participate in discussion about this moving and magical novel.
