New IOM Release: International Animal Research Regulations: Impact on Neuroscience Research: Workshop Summary

The Institute of Medicine released the workshop summary today from the meeting of the IOM Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders, National Research Council and the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research, which took place in Buckinghamshire, UK, on July 26-27, 2011.

The goal of the workshop was to discuss trends in animal regulations in relation to neuroscience research. The summary reports need to create international regulations for animal research that are ethically strong, consistent and defendable without being so stringent that neuroscience developments are significantly impeded. This report is available for free online at the National Academies Press. http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=13322
