NIH and Lilly Announce Collaboration

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced yesterday that its new National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is partnering with pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly to test medications through the use of Lilly’s Phenotypic Drug Discovery (PD2) panel.  The tests will evaluate the medications found in the NCATS Pharmaceutical Collection, a public database of 3,800 approved and investigational medications.  Results of these screenings will be made available for free at http://tripod/nih.gov/npc  in order to open the possibility of greater collaboration between organizations to improve drug development.  Read the NIH’s press release for more information about this project.
