New IOM Report: Measuring Progress in Obesity Prevention

Today the Institute for Medicine released Measuring Progress in Obesity Prevention – Workshop Report, which describes the findings of the Committee on Accelerating Progress in Obesity Prevention workshop that took place in March 2012.  The aim of the workshop was to evaluate measurement techniques in the field of obesity research that would accelerate obesity prevention and find gaps in the current knowledge of obesity prevention, specifically in environmental aspects and policies, in order to determine future research topics and techniques.  This report outlines the scope of the obesity problem in the United States and the impact of obesity on individuals and the healthcare system.
