National Health Council Launches New Resource for Funding Biomedical Research

The National Health Council (NHC) has launched HealthResearchFunding.Org, a database created to help biomedical investigators whose research proposals passed peer-review but who were unable to receive funding for their projects.  The Health Research Funding database aids researchers in obtaining grants by connecting unfunded projects with funding sources, such as patient advocacy organizations.  The NHC’s goal for this database is to “foster the funding of new research that will provide hope to millions of people in this country with chronic diseases and disabilities” (NHC 2011).  Researchers whose projects have passed review but did not receive funding from the NIH or the NHC are encouraged to register their studies in the Health Research Funding database.
