The CDC and NIH release updated Guidelines for the Prevention of Intravascular Catheter-Related Infections

The CDC has released new guidelines for preventing bloodstream infections among patients using intravenous catheters. The guidelines, which update the 2002 guidelines, touch on various strategies for prevention such as more training for health care staff and the use of maximum sterile barrier measures during central venous catheter insertion.
