Special Open Access Issue of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness: Nuclear Preparedness

In light of the earthquake and subsequent nuclear power plant meltdowns that rocked Japan this past month, the American Medical Association is offering its special nuclear preparedness supplement of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness for free.  Although this supplement features articles on the preparation of medical and public health groups for nuclear detonation, the focus on response planning can also apply to other nuclear disasters, including the ones that recently took place in Japan.

Some of the topics covered in this issue include: allocation of resources following a nuclear disaster, immediate and long-term radiation health effects, psychological responses to such disasters, planning and preparedness, and dealing with population relocation.  View the March 2011, Volume 5, Supplement 1 issue of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness.
