boys in the boatBook Group will meet on Thursday, April 16, at 7:30 a.m., and Friday, April 17, at noon, to discuss The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown. The Boys in the Boat is a New York Times #1 Bestseller by the author of Under a Flaming Sky: The Great Hinckley Firestorm of 1894 and The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of a Donner Party Bride.

Penguin’s reader’s guide includes a conversation with the author about the book, his research, and how he discovered this story, as well as a list of questions for discussion. You can watch the book trailer below, which includes film footage of the Olympic race in Berlin.
